Get to know them: It all started with a parakeet.
In 1957, Francis Getty, a York County welder and animal lover, decided to start selling the parakeets he raised to help supplement his income. His initial success prompted him to open Gettys Pet Shop, turning his love for animals into a full-time job. Over 50 years later, the family still owns and operates the shop their grandfather built.
Today, Gettys sells all kinds of animals, from livestock to traditional household pets like cats and dogs, and, of course, parakeets (along with the food and supplies those pets need)!
If you’re in the market for a new household companion (or even a cow!), you can visit Gettys Pet Shop Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 717-755-4913.
